The women's race was actually pretty fun. Most of the stronger women riders were there from the City which was nice to see. Although it would have been nice to have had a few of the other Kissena women there :-).

Radical Media had their full force of about 7 riders and worked well together setting up attacks and counters, etc. I stayed in the front for most of the race and several times we broke away from the pack but we were caught each time because some did not want to help pull. I decided to hang out in the middle with three laps to go to try to conserve since I had been sick all week and was losing energy, which proved to be a fortuitous move since on the first turn of the last lap (where all the other crashes of the day seemed to be occurring) there was a crash which took out several riders in front of me. Luckily I squeaked by on the far right, and got back into the front of the pack with a good sprint effort. In the last straightaway I stupidly decided to start the sprint too early and lost my juice by the final line, which resulted in placing 5th instead of higher, but lesson learned. Oh yeah, that and don't invite your sister to stay with you the week before a race when she has a nasty cold :-).
